Biography of Edwige Berrouet
Edwige
Berrouet was born and raised in Haiti and migrated to the U.S.A.
at the age of 19. She attended Bay Ridge High School in New York
for one year and graduated. She later moved to Massachusetts
where she received a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a minor
in sociology at the University of Massachusetts. She also
attended Boston University and received a Master degree of
Clinical Social Work and a minor of Macro Social Work. Edwige is
a licensed Clinical Social Worker. In addition, Edwige holds
certificates in other areas of interests. She was trained and
certified with Emerge and worked with Common Purpose as a psycho
educational Batterer Intervention Group counselor. Edwige is the
pioneer of the first Haitian Batterer’s intervention group
treatment in Massachusetts. She worked closely and participated
in ongoing trainings and conferences with the Department of
Justice and Public Health. She is a certified Social Studies
teacher and practiced teaching at the Medford High School.
Edwige attended The University of Massachusetts for one year and
earned a certificate in Court Interpretation and Translation in
languages of English, Haitian Kreyol and French. Edwige has been
working in the Social Work field for 25 years and has extensive
work experiences with diverse populations especially with Trauma
and Immigrant populations.
She has worked with the Veteran Administration conducting
individual and group psychotherapy with dual diagnosis male war
veterans. She also worked with the International Institute of
Boston With international Torture Survivors providing individual
and group therapy. She worked with Transition House as Domestic
Violence Immigrant Community Liaison providing outreach for
battered women. She conducted informative radio talk shows and
television shows, she also conducted presentations to public and
private organization on domestic violence education. Edwige
worked with the Department of Social Services as a field Social
Worker. She is presently employed with the Department of Youth
Services as a Clinician conducting biopsychosocial evaluation
and treatment to delinquent adolescents. Her hobbies are yoga
exercise, meditation and fitness.
